The design of the first 3 t-shirts above is inspired by the drawings of biologist Ernst Haeckel

Ernst Haeckel is a big inspiration to us. He was an evolutionary biologist ("the German Darwin") who discovered, described, and named thousands of new species, mapped a genealogical tree relating all life forms, and coined many terms in biology. He was a gifted draughtsman and painter as well. However talented, he realised that the visualisation of his discoveries needed a professional artist. All his life he worked together with Adolf Giltsch, a Leipzig based lithographer who made the scientific illustrations for Haeckels publications. Available in black and white, in a variety of sizes!

The bottom t-shirts: HALAL / KOSHER were designed by Willem Velthoven for the project El Hema in 2007.

The department store franchise Hema is as Dutch as you can get. There are countries that find their identity in churches, gardens or bathing houses. The Dutch identify themselves with the Hema; the living monument of the best value for your money, with typical eccentric Hema colours, bikes, cheese, rookworsten and Jip and Janneke children champagne. And that is exactly why the Arabic Hema directly crossed our minds: it is the image of the future Arabic Netherlands.

Kosher/Halal shirts are about bridging difference. The Hebrew Kosher means "good" according to the rules of the Torah. The Arabic Halal means "good" according to the rules of the Koran. And those rules overlap quite a bit. Best-known example: "Don't eat a pig." That's why we spell Halal in Hebrew script and Kosher in Arabic on our T-shirts. Not because differences wouldn't exist, but precisely because they can be so beautiful, interesting and delicious.
